The Vision

Before we can help others we must first understand ourselves. Our emotions can either be fuel that fires our dreams or the chains that bind us. I started this series of animal emotional states so that adults and children would have a new and vibrant means of expressing how they feel.  We are in a constant flux of emotional change, which is not always easy to communicate. This becomes even more complicated when trying to convey these emotions to children. Hunter& Sam wants to provide a bridge for adults and children to discuss how they feel in a meaningful way.

The clothing range provides a platform for this conversation to be had every morning when getting ready. Checking in with how we feel before leaving the house is a great habit to get into and the process of teaching children how to make sense of their emotions is a vital undertaking.

The animal personifications of our states, allow for a name to be put to the feeling. What animal are you today? We hope, Will quickly become a common question in homes and classrooms around the world. Curiosity is the best approach when dealing with how we feel, and these characters will provide a vehicle for that.

The children's books have been a way to bring these characters to life. It has also allowed me to really explore each character in a lot more depth. In addition to this, having spent over 15 years working with children, I fully appreciate how special reading time is.

I would be doing him a disservice if I didn't mention Chester. I have always loved poetry for its beautiful simplicity. Chester came from a growing concern that children don't get enough time exploring the world. Chester represents the wonder of a child's inquisitive mind, and the comedy that resides there.

My overall vision is to carefully expand the Hunter & Sam universe, creating new series of books, characters, and products so that everyone can find an access point to this most vital of subjects. In the end, thoughts and feelings are the starting point for all human endeavour, and Hunter & Sam wants to be an important part of that.
